The Chattanooga Police Department (CPD) celebrated a significant milestone as it graduated 32 cadets from its 22-week police academy, marking the largest class in over ten years.

By operating its own academy, CPD has the flexibility to customize training to better meet the specific needs of the Chattanooga community. The program not only surpasses Tennessee Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements but also adheres to the standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, ensuring the highest level of professionalism and preparedness.

I’m incredibly proud of this class and what it represents for our department and our city,” said Chief John Chambers. “These 32 men and women have earned this badge through discipline, integrity, and a commitment to serving Chattanooga.”

The graduates, whose ages range from 20 to 36, come from diverse backgrounds. Fourteen hail from Chattanooga or Hamilton County, while one officer comes from as far away as Alaska. Additionally, ten of the new officers have prior military service, bringing valuable experience to the force.

Following graduation, the officers will undergo 16 weeks of field training, working closely with seasoned CPD Field Training Officers as they transition into patrol roles and serve the community.

The graduation ceremony was held at the Silverdale Baptist Activities Center. CPD expressed gratitude to Silverdale Baptist for providing the venue to honor this important milestone.

Congratulations to CPD Class 2025-3! These new officers are poised to make a positive impact on the safety and well-being of Chattanooga residents.
