Blood Assurance Celebrates Dolly Parton with Special Blood Donation Event on Friday!

Blood Assurance is paying tribute to Tennessee’s beloved music legend, Dolly Parton, through a special blood donation event scheduled for Friday, September 25th, known as “9/25.” The organization is encouraging community members to roll up their sleeves and give blood in honor of the country icon, with a unique incentive to thank donors for their generosity.

On this day, anyone who donates blood at a Blood Assurance center or mobile drive will receive an exclusive T-shirt, available in limited quantities. The shirt bears a heartfelt quote from Parton: “We can’t save the world, but we can save the world we’re living in.”

This message, from a 2020 interview, highlights the importance of kindness and community action—values that Blood Assurance hopes will motivate donors to make a difference through their donation.

As the primary blood supplier to Chattanooga-area hospitals, Blood Assurance plays a vital role in providing life-saving blood products to local patients. The organization emphasizes the ongoing need for donors, with a current requirement of over 600 donations daily to meet hospital demands. Individuals of all blood types are encouraged to participate, and appointments are not mandatory but recommended for convenience.

Donors must be at least 17 years old (or 16 with parental consent), weigh a minimum of 110 pounds, and be in good health. It’s advised to eat iron-rich foods, stay well-hydrated, avoid caffeine prior to donating, and bring a photo ID.

This special event aims to turn community goodwill into tangible aid for those in need, inspired by Dolly Parton’s message of kindness and making a positive impact.
