After receiving criticism for a comment she made at the Critics Choice Awards Sunday (March 13th), The Power of the Dog director Jane Campion issued an apology to Venus and Serena Williams.

While accepting the award for Best Director on Sunday (March 13th), Campion addressed the Williams sisters, saying, "Serena and Venus, you are such marvels. However, you do not play against the guys like I have to."

Following this comment, Campion was dragged on Twitter. Anne Boleyn actress Jodie Turner-Smith, who attended the Critics Choice Awards, wrote, "jane taking time out of her best director speech to tell two Black women that she is more oppressed than them is PEAK white feminism."

Campion continued in her apology, "The fact is the Williams sisters have, actually, squared off against men on the court (and off), and they have both raised the bar and opened doors for what is possible for women in this world."

"I love Serena and Venus. Their accomplishments are titanic and inspiring. Serena and Venus, I apologize and completely celebrate you," she said.

The Bridesmaids actress continued, "I loved it. I loved every second of it and I cried like a baby on my last day. I was like, ‘I don't want to leave. I don't want to leave. I don't want to leave.' So, every single part of that process was amazing and beyond."

No. I think with Rob it's always been like, he sort of had success earlier, so we were a bit like, 'Does he really fit in with us?' Because we were not working and he's working all the time. Presenters for the evening included Venus and Serena Williams, Kristin Wiig, Jimmy Kimmel, Mandy Moore, Issa Rae, Ava DuVernay, Carey Mulligan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Taika Waititi, Ray Romano, Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Park Hae-soo, and more.

The Power of the Dog won Best Picture, and Jane Campion won Best Director, mirroring the film's wins earlier in the day at the BAFTA Awards. While accepting the award for Best Picture, Campion referred to herself as the "grandmother" of the women's movement in film. "But I'm still here!" she said.

Will Smith won Best Actor for his role in King Richard, saying to the Williams sisters in his acceptance speech, "You all define the American dream. You represent the best of what we all hope this world and this country can be," before the music sounded. "Best Actor should get a little more time. I'm just saying," he joked in response.

In her acceptance speech, Berry said, "Storytelling can raise our consciousness and help us think outside of ourselves and our individual circumstances. I realized that we truly need to see each other's reality — no matter how uncomfortable it makes us — so that we can stop judging and stop pointing fingers, but rather find compassion and empathy for the others."

Jimmy Kimmel presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Billy Crystal, which Crystal accepted the day before his 74th birthday. In his acceptance speech, Crystal said, "Funny people, entertainers, we start by making our parents laugh first, our family, our friends. So before I knew it, I'm standing on a coffee table imitating my relatives, who were these joyful souls … My grandmothers were from Odessa and Kyiv. They escaped the pogroms to come to America, where they could live free from tyranny. And their laughter, the first laughs I ever got in my life, is the fuel that my engine is still burning today."

He added, "I dedicate this award to those amazing people in our living room in Long Ridge, Long Island, whose laughter and joy started this five-year-old boy on his way to this moment. I pray that somehow, some way there can be laughter and joy in that part of the world once again."

Tom Brady Sends Jane Fonda Flowers Following Her Shoulder Replacement Surgery

Tom Brady and Jane Fonda haven't met in person yet, but that didn't stop Brady from extending his sympathies after Fonda had shoulder replacement surgery.

"He sent me a humongous thing of orchids because I had my shoulder replaced. I think it's going to last forever ... the shoulder and the orchids," Fonda said Saturday (March 12th) at the Lo Máximo Awards in Los Angeles.

Lily Tomlin chimed in, saying, "I'm gonna get my shoulder replaced so he'll send me some."

Fonda and Tomlin are set to star in the upcoming film Brady, along with Sally Field and Rita Moreno. Brady will produce and star in the film, which is based on a true story about four New England Patriots fans who embarked on a road trip to see Brady play in the 2017 Super Bowl.

"Tom Brady phoned her to tell her he was trying to make a movie about them. And it's just really delightful to see. It was wonderful. And so we look like your typical Tom Brady fan," Tomlin said.

"And we're in our 80s," said Fonda.

Tomlin added, "80 for Brady."

Brady announced last month that he's retiring from the NFL after 22 seasons. He has previously appeared onscreen in titles such as Stuck On You, Entourage, and Ted 2.

She continued, "They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours."

"Although this was definitely one of the scariest moments I've ever been through, I'm home now and doing well, and I'm so grateful and thankful to all the amazing doctors and nurses who took care of me!" she wrote.

"In the world, there is an industry — a billion-dollar, trillion-dollar industry — about hiding things. Concealers. Body-shapers. Fillers. Procedures. Clothing. Hair accessories. Hair products. Everything to conceal the reality of who we are," she wrote.

"My instruction to everybody was: I want there to be no concealing of anything. I've been sucking my stomach in since I was 11, when you start being conscious of boys and bodies, and the jeans are super tight. I very specifically decided to relinquish and release every muscle I had that I used to clench to hide the reality. That was my goal. I have never felt more free creatively and physically," she continued.

On Sunday (March 13th), Curtis also shared a post in celebration of her daughter's birthday. "Today is the birthday of my trans daughter," she wrote. "I am proud and grateful to be the parent of a trans child and am sending support to all of the trans families across the US who are being targeted in this moment by conservative legislatures."

Judge James Linn called Jussie arrogant, selfish and narcissistic while making the judgement, and stated that Jussie faked the attack because he wanted attention. She explained, "You picked out the actors…They idolized you. You paid them in advance. You chose the date. You chose the time. You chose a location." Jussie maintained his innocence by responding, "Your honor, I respect you and I respect the jury, but I did not do this. And I am not suicidal. And if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself. And you must all know that."

Kim Kardashian's Former Employee Slams Her For Comments About Work

Kim Kardashian has come under fire for telling women to "Get your f***ing a** up and work."

One of her critics is a former employee who tweeted Wednesday (March 9th), "I was an editor on the Kardashian apps in 2015 in LA, worked days nights & weekends, could only afford groceries from the 99 Cents Only Store, called out 'sick' more than once bc I couldn't put gas in my car to get to the office, & was reprimanded for freelancing on the side."

In a recent Variety interview, the SKIMS founder said, ""I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f***ing a** up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days. You have to surround yourself with people that want to work. Have a good work environment where everyone loves what they do, because you have one life. No toxic work environments and show up and do the work."

Fans were so angry about the comment that they went on Twitter calling for a boycott of the family, with one user writing, "Everyone is upset. Stop making the family rich. Boycott all of their products! Maybe they will understand how life really is."

She told host Kate Roberts, "I was in hospital in South Africa about nine days. And then I was medevacked to Tennessee. But when I got to South Africa my leg didn't have a pulse and I was hemorrhaging, and if I had been medevacked to Europe I would've bled to death."

'The Kardashians' Will Feature Kanye West But Not Pete Davidson

Kim Kardashian revealed to Variety in an interview published Thursday (March 9th) that viewers of her Hulu reality show will get a chance to see Kanye West but not her new boyfriend, Pete Davidson.

According to the Skims founder, she has not filmed with the Saturday Night Live star because "it's just not what he does. But added, "If there was an event happening and he was there, he wouldn't tell the cameras to get away. I think I might film something really exciting coming, but it wouldn't be for this season."

However, when The Kardashians premieres, viewers will see "how we met and who reached out to who and how it happened and all the details that everyone wants to know."

West, however, did film scenes for the show and, according to the outlet, he is featured in the first episode.

The reality star said, "Being in the public eye and having disagreements publicly is never easy. But I do believe in handling it all privately. I believe in championing publicly and criticizing privately. I don't think I would ever criticize the father of my children on my TV show. That's just not really what I'm about, and I just don't think that would ever make me feel good.

"I'm always really respectful of what the kids will see. The reality is, we're always a family. We always will have a love and respect for each other. And even if there's moments where it might not seem like that, there are so many moments that are super positive. I do think it's important for people to see that things aren't perfect all the time, but that they can get better."

The Kardashians will premiere April 14th on Hulu.

Ryan Coogler Detained After Being Mistaken For A Bank Robber

Police detained Black Panther director Ryan Coogler in Atlanta earlier this year because they mistook him for a bank robber.

Deadline reports that Coogler entered a Bank of America branch on January 7th and requested a $12,000 cash withdrawal in writing.

According to the police report obtained by the outlet, the director was wearing a Covid mask and sunglasses and had written, "I'd like to be discreet," on the withdrawal slip. When the large withdrawal triggered a computer alert, the teller told her boss that the customer was attempting to rob the bank.

The police handcuffed Coogler when they arrived but according to the report, officers quickly realized that "the incident is a mistake by Bank of America and that Mr. Coogler was never in the wrong."

Coogler told Deadline in a statement, "This situation should never have happened. However, Bank of America worked with me and addressed it to my satisfaction and we have moved on."
