Ed Sheeran Wins Copyright Battle Over 'Shape Of You'

Ed Sheeran has won a copyright lawsuit over his hit single, "Shape of You."

A U.K. High Court ruled on Wednesday (4-6) that Sheeran had not plagiarized the 2015 song, "Oh Why" by Sami Chokri.

According to the Judge, Sheeran had neither deliberately nor subconsciously copied Chokri's work. He added that there were similarities between the one-bar phrase in "Shape of You" and "Oh Why," but said that such similarities are only a starting point for a possible infringement" of copyright.

Sheeran issued a video statement after the verdict and said that claims like this can be really damaging to the songwriting industry. He also pointed out that… with 60,000 songs being released every day on Spotify, and only 12 notes available, a coincidence is bound to happen.

Jack Harlow To Drop New Music On Friday, Featuring Sample Of Fergie's 'Glamorous'

Jack Harlow will release a new single, "First Class" on Friday (4-8). The song features a sampling of Fergie's 2006 hit "Glamorous." As a teaser, he posted a short clip from the studio. He's seen dancing and singing along, just after recording it.

The Louisville native, along with Lil Nas X, performed on the Grammy Awards on Sunday. Their song, "Industry Baby" was up for best melodic rap performance, but was beat out by Kanye West's "Hurricane."

Harlow's second album, Come Home The Kids Miss You, will be out on May 6.

Kanye West is no longer performing at Coachella festival and according to TMZ, he walked away from $8 million.

Yeezy was supposed to do a two-weekend performance, which would have also cost $500,000 for production.

On another note, according to Page Six, The Weeknd will be replacing Kanye and has demanded the $8 million Ye was supposed to be receiving or else he threatened to pull out from the gig altogether.

Machine Gun Kelly Throws Up At Backstreet Boys Concert, Screams Were Too Intense

While being interviewed by Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys laughed about the time Machine Gun Kelly threw up at one of their concerts.

They were quick to point out that it wasn't their music that made him nauseous. Instead, Machine Gun Kelly said it was because it was so intense and the girls were screaming so loud, that he just suddenly threw up. It happened as the boys band made their grand entrance on their Millennium Tour.

According to the outlet, The Weeknd and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are currently the top contenders.

Ye pulled out of the tour Monday (April 4th), with Variety reporting that he had not rehearsed or prepared for the show.

Paco Sanz is a Spanish criminal currently in prison for defrauding thousands of people by pretending to have a terminal illness.

The outlet reports that it is unclear if it was YouTube that fell victim to the hacker or a third-party social media management service.

Additional celebrities affected include Justin Bieber, Drake, Eminem, Harry Styles, Travis Scott, Taylor Swift, Lil Nas X and Michael Jackson.

R. Kelly Criticizes His Former Attorney's For Not Removing Jurors Who Saw Tell-All Documentary

According to the New York Daily News, R. Kelly is upset with his former attorneys and recently filed an affidavit criticizing them over the jury selection process in his sexual abuse case. Kelly claims that there were several jurors who "may" have seen the 2019 Surviving R. Kelly documentary.

Kelly wrote, "At certain points during jury selection, I did hear that some jurors may have seen the Surviving R. Kelly docuseries and that concerned me greatly. I raised my concerns with my attorneys but they shooed me off. I was nothing more than a bystander in the process. ... There was no strategy involved in choosing the jurors that sat on my jury as far as I could tell. At least there was no trial strategy that involved my input."

The singer has was convicted of federal racketeering and sex trafficking charges.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on May 4 and faces a maximum of life in prison.

The Backstreet Boys Add New Dates To The 'DNA World Tour'

The Backstreet Boys announced Tuesday (April 5th) that they will be making additional tour stops on their DNA World Tour.

The group will now visit Nashville, Portland and Memphis in the US and kick off a European leg of the tour in Portugal on October 3rd.

The DNA World Tour starts this weekend with four shows at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on April 8th, 9th, 15th, and 16th.

Tory Lanez Taken Into Custody After Violating Megan Thee Stallion's Order Of Protection

Tory Lanez appeared in court in Los Angeles on Tuesday (April 5) for the pretrial hearing for his felony assault case stemming from the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion from last summer.

According to XXL, Tory was taken into custody after the judge presiding over the case determined that Tory violated the protective and personal contact orders of protection Megan had against him.

Tory's bail was increased from $250,000 to $325,000.

Tory was released from custody hours after the court hearing.

His lawyer, Shawn Holley, released a statement, which said, "The DA requested that Mr. Peterson's bail be revoked or, in the alternative, that it be increased to $5 million. We are pleased that the Court rejected those outrageous requests."

It was also said in court that the DNA of four people were found on the gun from the July of 2020 shooting incident. Therefore, it was inclusive whether or not Tory's DNA was on the gun.

He was also excluded as a contributor to his DNA being on the gun's magazine, or clip.

Megan Thee Stallion's attorney, Alex Spiro, also said in a statement, "A judge found sufficient evidence of Mr. Peterson's guilt to order him to stand trial. Additionally, the judge found sufficient evidence today that he violated the order of protection and had him handcuffed in the courtroom. The self-serving noise in this case will not change the facts or prevent this case from proceeding."

Tory Lanez was found guilty of violating the protective order that as already in place in July of last year when he performed at Rolling Loud Miami last year with DaBaby.

Megan was also at the festival and was apparently less than the court-ordered 100 yards away from the Houston rapper.

Britney Spears has confirmed that she is writing a memoir.

The "Toxic" singer wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post Monday (April 4th), "Well I'm writing a book at the moment and it's actually healing and therapeutic... it's also hard bringing up past events in my life. I've never been able to express openly!!! I can only imagine that I do sound childish but I was extremely young with those events took place."

Her post makes it sound like the memoir will be pretty juicy by adding, "I'm not the type of person to bring up UNCOMFORTABLE CONVERSATIONS well because it's just NOT RESPECTFUL … but come on LET'S ACTUALLY TALK ABOUT IT!"

Spears did not mention a release date for the book or whether it had been picked up by a publisher, but previous reports state that she has sold the title to Simon and Schuster for $15 million.

Kanye West has pulled out of Coachella. According to TMZ, there is no word on exactly why Ye has decided not to perform but sources told Variety the rapper hasn't rehearsed or prepared for the show. Meanwhile, reports say that The Weeknd may be taking Kanye's place as headliner.

Since Kanye is not performing, Travis Scott also won't be appearing. As previously reported, Scott was set to headline the show but was pulled after the Astroworld festival tragedy. Kanye West took his place and vowed to bring Scott to the stage to perform with him.
