Morning After Pill Demand Surges After New Year’s Eve

Chattanooga, Tennessee—(Pulse)
Demand for the morning after pill goes up 10% the week after New Year’s Eve, a Texas Tech University study found. Researchers analyzed data pertaining to the over-the-counter medication levonorgestrel, which is available without age restrictions.
Other notable increases in sales corresponded with Valentine’s Day and Independence Day.
Researchers hope this information can be used to improve access to contraception around the holidays and identify behavioral risks.
