Blythe Danner Reveals She's Been Battling The Same Cancer That Killed Her Husband

Meet the Parents actress Blythe Danner has revealed to People that she's been undergoing a private battle with the same cancer that killed her husband, Bruce Paltrow. Danner, who is Gwyneth Paltrow and Jake Paltrow's mother, was diagnosed with adenoid cystic carcinoma in 2018 and is now in remission.

"Everyone is touched by cancer in some way, but it's unusual for a couple to have the same cancer," Danner told the outlet. After learning of her diagnosis, she said, "I remember I looked up at heaven and said to Bruce, ‘Are you lonely up there?' "

The I'll See You in My Dreams actress added, "It's a sneaky disease. But I'm fine and dandy now. And I'm lucky to be alive."

The Casper actress continued, "Everybody has their personal issues and this has been mine, and it has been about finding my own self-worth and position and strength and power. I tell my story only because I know that, having been in situations like the one I was in, I searched for success stories, stories of people who could get out, could get over it and just be okay."

"And so the fact that now I am in this place where I am so much better than OK, that is my impetus for being honest about it.," she said. Michael J. Fox Receives Honorary Oscar For Parkinson's Advocacy Work

On Saturday (November 19th), Michael J. Fox was honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award at the 13th Governors Awards in Los Angeles for his advocacy work with Parkinson's Disease. The Back to the Future actor established the Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2000, which seeks to find a cure for Parkinson's. He was diagnosed with the disease himself in 1991.

Woody Harrelson presented the award to Fox. "This guy was a master class in comedy," he said. "He turned a chilling diagnosis into a courageous mission. Michael J. Fox never asked for the role of Parkinson's advocate, but it is his best performance."

During an emotional acceptance speech, Fox called Parkinson's the "gift that keeps on taking." The Family Ties actor shared that "the hardest part was grappling with the certainty of the diagnosis and the uncertainty of the situation."

Fox also thanked his wife, Tracy Pollan, for her support over the years. "Tracy made it clear she was with me for the duration," he said. Inviting his wife to the podium, he shared, "I cannot believe I have been standing here for this long, it's a miracle." He also asked her to carry the award for him.

"I cannot walk and carry this thing," he commented. "But I ask Tracy to once again carry the weight."

Chris Hemsworth discovered he's at increased risk for Alzheimer's while filming the National Geographic series Limitless.

While having bloodwork done for the show's fifth episode, the Marvel star discovered he had two copies of the APOE4 gene - something that can increase your odds of developing Alzheimer's disease eight- to twelvefold, according to the Mayo Clinic.

He told Vanity Fair, "Most of us, we like to avoid speaking about death in the hope that we'll somehow avoid it. We all have this belief that we'll figure it out. Then to all of a sudden be told some big indicators are actually pointing to this as the route which is going to happen, the reality of it sinks in."

He explained that he kept it in the show as "a motivator to take better care of themselves and to understand that there are steps you can take."

Although the revalation will appear in the series, the Furiosa star hasn't talked to his kids about it yet.

He explained, "I don't think they could have grasped the concept or have the understanding, so no. It's not like I've been handed my resignation and this is what it is — and it's up in a few months. It's not quite that situation, thankfully. One day I'm sure I'll bring it up. An open letter signed by more than 140 individuals and women's rights organizations condemns the public criticism of Amber Heard following her highly publicized court case against Johnny Depp.

The letter, which was signed by activist Gloria Steinem and actress Constance Wu, among others, read, "The vilification of Ms. Heard and ongoing online harassment of her and those who have voiced support for her have been unprecedented in both vitriol and scale."

It continued, "Much of this harassment was fueled by disinformation, misogyny, biphobia, and a monetized social media environment where a woman's allegations of domestic violence and sexual assault were mocked for entertainment. The same disinformation and victim-blaming tropes are now being used against others who have alleged abuse."

The author concluded, "We condemn the public shaming of Amber Heard and join in support of her. We support the ability of all to report intimate partner and sexual violence free of harassment and intimidation."

Critics of the letter argue that it ignores the idea that Depp was a domestic violence victim, with one person tweeting, "Gloria Steinem now supports a Self Confessed Abuser who committed perjury on 3 continents soley because she's a woman."

During a town-hall discussion held Tuesday (November 15th) between CNN staffers and the company's chairman and CEO, Chris Licht, he announced that on-camera drinking eroded the credibility of the news network's personnel and damaged their "respectability."

The Palm Springs International Film Awards will take place in person on Jan. 5th, 2023 at the Palm Springs Convention Center, with the festival running through Jan. 16th, 2023.

Candace Cameron Bure Faces Backlash For 'Traditional' Marriage Comments

Candace Cameron Bure told The Wall Street Journal why she left Hallmark for Great American Family after more than a decade—and stars like Jojo Siwa and Hilarie Burton Morgan are speaking out against her reasoning.

Bure, who is now Great American Family's chief creative officer, said the network will not feature LGBTQ+ storylines but rather "will keep traditional marriage at the core." This comes as Hallmark prepares to release The Holiday Sitter in December, its first holiday movie centered on a same-sex couple.

Bure told The Wall Street Journal that she joined Great American Family because she "knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment."

Morgan took to Twitter on Monday (November 14th) to slam Bure's remarks. "Bigot. I don't remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy," the One Tree Hill actress wrote. "But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank."

Siwa, who came out as queer in 2021 and was in a public disagreement with Bure earlier this year, took to Instagram to express her disbelief. "honestly, I can't believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people," Siwa wrote.

Jodie Sweetin, Bure's onscreen sister from the show Full House, commented on Siwa's post, "You know I love you," adding two red heart emojis.

Jay Leno Suffered Third-Degree Burns And May Need Skin Grafts

Jay Leno spoke with TMZ Tuesday (November 15th) about the accident that occurred over the weekend that left him hospitalized with "serious burns." The former Tonight Show host revealed that he suffered third-degree burns and may need skin grafts.

Leno told the outlet he was working on his 1907 White Steam Car when gasoline got on his face and hands. At the same time, a spark triggered an explosion, causing Leno to catch fire.

The 72-year-old said his friend Dave smothered the flames and stopped things from getting worse. Leno was rushed to the Grossman Burn Center, where he received treatment for his burns.
